6th Period Anatomy & Physiology Exam Review
Endocrine System
• Distinguish between endocrine and exocrine glands.
• Explain what makes a target cell for a hormone.
• List the important functions of hormones within the body.
• Name and describe the locations of the major endocrine glands and list the hormones that they secrete.
• Describe the actions of the various hormones and their contributions to homeostasis
• Describe the body’s general reaction to stress.
Blood
• What are the major functions of blood?
• Distinguish between the formed elements of blood and the liquid portion of blood.
• Describe the origins of blood cells.
• Distinguish between the 5 types of white blood cells and give the functions of each type.
• Describe a blood platelet and it’s function.
Cardiovascular System
• List the organs of the cardiovascular system and each of their functions.
• Draw the human heart and identify the major parts.
• Discuss the functions of each part of the human heart in your drawing.
• Describe the cardiac cycle and how heart sounds are produced.
